Royals confirm Mike Moustakas (torn ACL) is done for the year
Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas will miss the rest of the year with a torn ACL, manager Ned Yost confirmed.
Moustakas is getting a second opinion but Yost isn't optimistic. "To lose two All-Stars on one play is kind of tough," said Yost. "But you just deal with it." Moustakas should be ready for the start of spring training next year. With Moustakas done for the season and Alex Gordon sidelined with a broken wrist, Kansas City's bid for a third consecutive AL pennant isn't off to a great start.
Moustakas finishes the year with a triple slash of .240/.301/.500 and a .343 wOBA in 113 plate appearances this season. His numbers are partially deflated because of a low .214 BABIP.
