Braves' Hector Olivera accepts 82-game suspension

Atlanta Braves left fielder/third baseman Hector Olivera has been suspended 82 games by Major League Baseball for his involvement in an alleged domestic violence incident last month, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports.

What It Means:

Olivera will not appeal the suspension, which was made retroactive to April 30. He'll be eligible for reinstatement on August 1. The Braves put Olivera on administrative leave after he was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery on April 13. The team tried to trade him after the incident but couldn't find any takers.

The 31-year-old has hit .245/.296/.378 while posting a .293 wOBA with two homers and 13 RBI's across 108 total plate appearances (30 games).
