Rockies remove Jorge De La Rosa from rotation

Colorado Rockies pitcher Jorge De La Rosa will be moved to the bullpen for the time being, manager Walt Weiss said.

What It Means:

This shouldn't be considered a huge surprise. De La Rosa was rocked for seven runs over 3 1/3 innings against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday and now holds an 11.41 ERA through six starts this season. He missed almost a month with a strained left groin suffered in late April, but was struggling even before the injury. With De La Rosa shifting to the bullpen, Chris Rusin will join the rotation.

Ahead of today's outing, our models projected De La Rosa to finish the year with a 6.00 ERA and 19.30 strikeout percentage across 141 innings.
