What It Means:

Gomes left the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan on May 11 "by mutual consent" after batting just .169/.280/.246 with 22 strikeouts in 75 plate appearances. The 35-year-old outfielder finishes his playing career with 835 major league hits and 162 major league homers. He played for the Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Kansas City Royals during his 13-year career, earning World Series rings with Boston and Kansas City.

Gomes ends his big league career with a .242/.333/.436 triple slash and a .335 wOBA. He hit more than 20 home runs in three different seasons, and hit 13 or more in another five seasons.
