The Chicago Cubs have released outfielder Shane Victorino.
Victorino suffered a calf injury in the spring and was batting just .233/.324/.367 through his first nine games with Triple-A Iowa. It's fair to wonder if the 35-year-old has reached the end of the line.
The 35-year-old Victorino has batted only .246/.306/.329 with 3 home runs and 9 steals over the last 2 seasons, while being limited to 101 games (337 plate appearances) due to a variety of ailments.
