Red Sox place Carson Smith on 15-day disabled list
Boston Red Sox pitcher Carson Smith was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 15, with right elbow soreness.
Smith returned from the disabled list at the beginning of the month after making his way back from a strained flexor tendon, but he wasn't recovering as hoped after appearances. It's unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined, but it could be a while. Noe Ramirez takes his spot in the Boston bullpen.
Smith has worked just 2 2/3 innings this season, recording an 18.18 strikeout percentage while surrendering two hits and one run (zero earned).
