Ross Stripling turns in erratic outing for Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Ross Stripling was all over the map in Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Angels, surrendering five runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings.

What It Means:

Stripling caved to Mike Trout twice early, surrendering an RBI single in the first inning and a solo home run in the third inning. Those are understandable enough. He would become his own worst enemy in the fifth inning. Gregorio Petit opened the frame with a single. A batter later, Stripling walked Kole Calhoun and Trout to load the bases. An Albert Pujols strikeout would bring the 26-year-old right-hander tantalizingly close to the end of the frame. He followed the Pujols strikeout with an RBI C.J. Cron hit-by-pitch. That would end his evening. A home date with the Cincinnati Reds awaits him next time he takes the mound. Look elsewhere for fantasy fun.

For the season, Stripling holds an uncomfortable 4.85 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with a 17.74 strikeout percentage in 42 2/3 innings pitched.
