Milwaukee's Tyler Thornburg records first career save

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Tyler Thornburg tossed a scoreless ninth for his first career save Thursday against the Chicago Cubs.

What It Means:

Thornburg was pretty shaky filling in for Jeremy Jeffress, walking two and giving up a long fly ball to Dexter Fowler -- that wasn't far from being a three-run homer -- but he was able get out of the jam. He'll continue to help set up for Jeffress, for the most part.

Thornburg now has a 4.08 ERA and is striking out 14.26 batters per nine frames over 17 2/3 innings this year.
