Mariners' Joaquin Benoit (shoulder) activated from disabled list
The Seattle Mariners activated reliever Joaquin Benoit from the 15-day disabled list.
Benoit made it through another throwing session without issue on Tuesday afternoon and will be available out of the Mariners' bullpen on Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. The veteran setup man wound up missing a little over three weeks because of inflammation in his right shoulder.
Benoit has pitched just 5 innings this season and owns a 4.84 xFIP. He posted a 3.69 xFIP with a 24.8 strikeout percentage -- well above the 20.4 percent league average -- in 65 1/3 innings for the San Diego Padres last season. Our models currently project Benoit to record a 3.16 ERA and a 23.1 strikeout percentage over the remaining course of the season.
