Nationals release Jose Valverde
The Nationals released 37 year-old relief pitcher Jose Valverde Wednesday.
What It Means:
Valverde was on a minor league deal, and was able to opt out of his contract since there was no prospect of him being promoted any time soon. He had a 2.39 ERA in 26.1 minor league innings, and should be picked up by a team that needs help in the bullpen very soon.
