Phillies' Darin Ruf optioned to Triple-A

The Philadelphia Phillies optioned first baseman/outfielder Darin Ruf to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

What It Means:

Ruf has failed to produce as right-handed platoon mate at first base with Ryan Howard, batting an ugly .158/.206/.193. Tommy Joseph has taken his spot on the roster.

Ruf failed to hit a home run and posted a wOBA of only .182 in his 63 plate appearances this season. His 30.2 strikeout percentage was way too high, and his .035 Isolated Power ranked 10th worst among hitters with at least 60 plate appearances this season.
