Josh Bell joining Padres' bench Wednesday
San Diego Padres first baseman Josh Bell is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's regular-season finale against right-hander John Brebbia and the San Francisco Giants.
The Padres appear to be giving Bell an extra day off to prepare for their Wild Card matchup with the New York Mets. Wil Myers will make another start on first base Wednesday and Manny Machado will move into the designated hitter role. Juan Soto will return to the lineup to play right field and bat second, with Brandon Dixon moving in to play third base.
Dixon has a $2,000 salary on Wednesday and numberFire's models project him for 3.1 FanDuel points (tied for second-fewest among batters). Soto has a $3,600 salary and is projected for 11.8 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Padres' implied total (4.48) is second-highest in the majors today.
