Evan Longoria (thumb) placed on season-ending IL for Giants
San Francisco Giants infielder Evan Longoria was placed on the season-ending injured list.
Longoria suffered a thumb fracture in Sunday's game, and as a result, his season is over. With the Giants out of the playoff picture, that means only three missed games before getting to heal up over the offseason. Bryce Johnson was recalled from Triple-A to take his place.
In 298 plate appearances this season, Longoria has a .244 batting average with a .767 OPS, 14 home runs, 31 runs and 42 RBI.
