J.J. Hardy (foot) to rehab in Sarasota for Orioles

Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy will rehab his fractured foot in Sarasota when the Orioles begin their West Coast road trip next Friday.

What It Means:

Hardy is expected to be out of his walking boot by the end of the month. He was originally given a six-to-eight week recovery window, and it doesn't sound like anything's changed. Manny Machado will continue to fill in at shortstop with Ryan Flaherty manning the hot corner.

Hardy was slashing .244/.291/.410 with a .301 wOBA and two home runs in 86 plate appearances this season before getting hurt. Our models currently project him to hit .231/.283/.339 with four home runs and a .266 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
