Jose Barrero on Reds' bench Thursday

Cincinnati Reds infielder Jose Barrero is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's series opener against right-hander Miles Mikolas and the St. Louis Cardinals.

What It Means:

Barrero went hitless on Wednesday and is 5-for-35 (.143) over his last 10 games. Kyle Farmer will move to shortstop and Spencer Steer will shift to third base and bat eighth while Jake Fraley (head) replaces Barrero in the lineup to be the Reds' designated hitter and cleanup batter.

Fraley has a $2,700 salary on Thursday and numberFire's models project him for 11.1 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Reds’ implied total (3.10) is third-lowest out of 16 teams in the majors today.
