Matt Andriese serves a seven-inning gem on Sunday, Rays top Angels
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Andriese delivered seven innings of one-run ball Sunday in the Angels' defeat of the Rays.
Andriese had to work around three walks, but he yielded only four hits in seven frames in what can only be called an excellent season debut. He's had some nice stretches in the minors and the 26-year-old right-hander could be worth a look in standard fantasy leagues if the Rays decide to keep him up in the major league rotation.
Andriese earned a 3.41 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 34 1/3 innings for Triple-A Durham this season before being called up. He went 1-2 through six starts while also recording a formidable 31.0 strikeout percentage.
