Rangers' A.J. Griffin leaves with shoulder stiffness

Texas Rangers starting pitcher A.J. Griffin was removed from Saturday's start against the Detroit Tigers with right shoulder stiffness.

What It Means:

The right-hander recorded just eight outs before departing. Given his history of arm troubles, it wouldn't be surprising if this ailment wound up leading to a stint on the disabled list. Anthony Ranaudo replaced him on Saturday and could be a candidate to fill his rotation spot if Griffin is forced to miss any starts.

Griffin has put up a surprisingly solid 2.32 ERA (3.30 FIP), with a 21.31 percent Strikeout Rate and 9.02 percent Walk Rate in 31 innings pitched (5 starts) this season.
