Washington Nationals infielder C.J. Abrams is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Ken Waldichuk and the Oakland Athletics.
Abrams will take a seat for the day game after a night game. Ildemaro Vargas will shift to shortstop in place of Abrams and hit ninth while Cesar Hernandez starts on third base and bats sixth.
