Andrew Heaney has UCL damage as injury woes continue for Angels
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Andrew Heaney has damage to his left ulnar collateral ligament, Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan reports.
Heaney was diagnosed with a flexor muscle strain after he was placed on the disabled list following his first start of the season, but Passan hears the injury is worse than that. The left-hander has been given a platelet-rich plasma injection and will attempt to rehab the injury initially, although it's far from a given that he'll be able to accomplish that. It's been a rotten day for injuries for the Angels, as Passan has also reported that Garrett Richards is headed for Tommy John surgery.
We currently have Heaney projected to post a 19.2 percent strikeout rate and 4.79 ERA over 120 innings this season. In his one outing this year, he managed to toss six innings with seven strikeouts, though he did allow four runs.
