Mariners' Joaquin Benoit (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session next week
Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session when the team returns to Seattle next week, Mariners' manager Scott Servais confirmed.
Benoit resumed throwing in the outfield on Sunday after being placed on the disabled list a week earlier with right shoulder inflammation. With Benoit sidelined, Joel Peralta has been filling the setup role ahead of closer Steve Cishek.
The 38-year-old Benoit has earned one win on the year across five innings of work, recording a 3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 19.05 strikeout percentage before getting hurt.
