Kansas City Royals outfielder Brent Rooker will be the designated hitter and bat fifth on Friday against left-hander Shane McClanahan and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Rooker will start after being held out of Thursday's lineup. Vinnie Pasquantino will shift to first base in place of an idle Nick Pratto.
