Kris Medlen struggles mightily as Royals are thrashed by Washington
Kansas City Royals pitcher Kris Medlen was crushed for nine runs -- six earned -- over two-plus innings Wednesday in a loss to the Washington Nationals.
Washington pounced for six runs in the top of the first inning and four more in the third, eventually winning 13-2 in the matinee at Kauffman Stadium. He simply needs to be better next week at Yankee Stadium.
The ugly, ugly loss in his fifth start of the year pushes Medlen's record to 1-3 and his ERA to 6.85 over 22 1/3 innings. He began the day with a 4.87 ERA and 17.78 strikeout percentage.
