Yankees' Matt Carpenter diagnosed with fractured foot

New York Yankees infielder Matt Carpenter has been diagnosed with a fractured foot.

What It Means:

It's a brutal blow to the veteran and the Yankees, as Carpenter suffered a left foot fracture after falling a ball off it. He claims he'll be back and ready to go by mid-September. In the meantime, Miguel Andujar was recalled.

In 154 plate appearances this season, Carpenter has a .305 batting average with a 1.138 OPS, 15 home runs, 28 runs and 37 RBI.
