Devin Mesoraco (torn labrum in shoulder) placed on Reds' disabled list
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 28, with a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Brutal news for Mesoraco, who was hoping to rebound after being limited to 23 games last season due to a torn labrum in his hip. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined or if surgery will be required, but he'll obviously be facing a lengthy absence. Tucker Barnhart will likely handle the bulk of the catching duties for now.
In addition to the injury, Mesoraco owns a .182 wOBA through 55 plate appearances this season. Over the rest of the campaign, prior to this news, we projected Mesoraco to post a .255 wOBA with four long balls.
