Miguel Montero (back) placed on Cubs' 15-day disabled list
Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Montero (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Montero came down with back stiffness earlier this week and hasn't made much improvement, but the Cubs will hope he only needs two weeks of rest. David Ross is starting behind the plate on Thursday afternoon against the Brewers, and Tim Federowicz has been called up from the minors to handle some of the load behind the plate.
Montero currently has a slash line of .208/.316/.333 with a .269 wOBA across 57 appearances at the plate. We project him to finish the season posting a .278 wOBA, with 16 homers and 60 RBI's.
