Indians send Cody Anderson to Triple-A

The Cleveland Indians optioned pitcher Cody Anderson to Triple-A Columbus.

What It Means:

Anderson's results in April have left something to be desired. Through 4 starts, he holds a bloated 7.65 ERA and 1.90 WHIP in 20 innings pitched. Prior to his demotion, he had allowed five runs in three consecutive outings. He could see further chances down the road, but for now, will work to fine-tune his game at Triple-A. Reliever Kyle Crockett was recalled from Columbus to serve as the corresponding move.

Crockett posted a 3.71 xFIP and an average 20.3 strikeout percentage across 17 2/3 innings last season (31 appearances) for Cleveland. With his call-up, he is unlikely to see many high-leverage situations, but should find situational work. He recorded a 1.29 ERA in 7 innings in Triple-A this season, but struck out just 3 hitters.
