Mariners sign outfielder Justin Upton to 1-year deal on Saturday
The Seattle Mariners have signed outfielder Justin Upton to a one-year contract on Saturday.
Upton will stay within his previous division after the veteran decided to play for the Mariners. Expect the veteran to see time against left-handed pitching in a designated hitting role and a part-time outfielder.
Per Baseball Savant on 214 batted balls last season, Upton accounted for a 11.7% barrel rate and a .227 expected average.
