Rays could spot-start Matt Andriese on Saturday
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Andriese could be called up to make a spot start on Saturday against the New York Yankees.
The assignment had been pegged for Erasmo Ramirez, but he had to pitch in relief on Thursday. Andriese would be on regular rest Saturday, so he makes sense as a fill-in.
The right-hander holds a 4.96 ERA in his first three starts with Triple-A Durham this season but boasts a whopping 28.2 percent strikeout rate and a minuscule 1.4 percent walk rate over 16 1/3 innings.
