Padres place Cory Spangenberg (quad) on the DL
San Diego Padres infielder Cory Spangenberg has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left quad strain.
Spangenberg was pulled from Tuesday's contest with the Pirates after complaining of quad discomfort. He could miss upwards of a month if it's a severe strain, but we should have a more clear picture of his rehab timeline in the coming days. Alexi Amarista is the primary candidate to start for Spangenberg until his quad has sufficiently recovered.
Spangenberg has posted a .298 wOBA with one homer and eight RBI's across 53 plate appearances so far this season. His season slash line sits at .229/.302/.354 for the year.
