San Diego Padres infielder Cory Spangenberg was pulled from Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a left quad strain.
That type of injury can sometimes cost a player a full month of action. Spangenberg had a single and walk before exiting, lifting his season slash line to .229/.302/.354. Alexi Amarista took over at second base and might have to be the Padres' primary starter there for the next few weeks.
Spangenberg has posted a .298 wOBA with one homer and eight RBI's across 53 plate appearances so far this season.
