The Cubs called up 35 year-old veteran reliever Rafael Soriano from Triple-A Iowa following Edwin Jackson's designation for assignment.
Soriano has been lights out while tuning up in the minors, tossing seven innings of scoreless baseball, allowing only four hits and seven strikeouts. He had a 3.19 ERA last season and has a 2.85 ERA for his career, so he could be a huge help to the Cubs bullpen, which has a 3.16 ERA for the season.
