Diamondbacks option Addison Reed to Triple-A
The Arizona Diamondbacks have sent the struggling Addison Reed down to Triple-A.
What It Means:
Addison Reed has a 5.92 ERA this season, which is 12th worst in the MLB among 156 relievers who have at least 20 innings pitched, but his xFIP of 4.71 indicates things may have gotten a little bit better if he stayed. However his xFIP was still 16th worst among the same group. He was already demoted from closer, and it seems the four earned runs he gave up Saturday against the San Diego Padres were the last straw.
