Darin Ruf D. Ruf

Darin Ruf (shoulder) sitting again for Phillies Thursday

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman/left fielder Darin Ruf (shoulder) is sitting again Thursday.

What It Means:

Ruf has been sidelined all week with a bruised left shoulder. It's not believed to be a serious issue, and the Phillies are still calling him day-to-day. Ryan Howard is starting at first base and batting fourth Thursday afternoon versus San Diego Padres' lefty Drew Pomeranz.

Ruf struggled at the plate last season, slashing .235/.300/.414 with a .311 wOBA. He did hit 12 home runs in just 297 plate appearances, however. We project Ruf to post a .307 wOBA with 9 home runs in 259 plate appearances this season.
