Braves' Hector Olivera charged with misdemeanor assault
Atlanta Braves third baseman Hector Olivera has been charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery.
Olivera was arrested at the Braves' team hotel on Wednesday morning following a 911 call from a woman who claimed she had been assaulted. The 31-year-old right-hander appeared before a judge on Wednesday afternoon, at which point the misdemeanor assault and battery charge was entered into the record. Olivera's bond has been set at $10,000. Major League Baseball is investigating the matter.
In 30 games for the Braves through his first two seasons, Olivera has yet to make much of an impact at the plate. He boasts a .293 wOBA, .133 Isolated Power and 15.7 percent strikeout rate. He has posted a -2.41 nERD to start this season.
