Tigers place James McCann (ankle) on 15-day disabled list
Detroit Tigers catcher James McCann has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain.
McCann suffered the injury in a collision with John Jaso at first base during Monday's game and will require an extended absence. He's in a boot right now, and the Tigers will have a better idea about a timeline after the swelling subsides. Jarrod Saltalamacchia figures to get the bulk of the playing time for now, although the Tigers have called up Bobby Wilson to serve as the backup.
McCann slashed .264/.297/.387 with a .297 wOBA and seven home runs in 114 games played last season. He's started the season going 2-for-13 with five strikeouts and no walks. We currently project McCann to post a .286 wOBA with six home runs in 371 plate appearances this season.
