Angels' Andrew Heaney (arm) heading to disabled list
Los Angeles Angels left handed pitcher Andrew Heaney has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left flexor muscle strain.
Per the Angels, Heaney noted a tightness in his left forearm following Tuesday's loss to the Chicago Cubs. Perhaps a sign of the injury, the 24-year-old left-hander saw a noticeable dip in velocity in the contest. He still managed to toss six innings with seven strikeouts, though he did allow four runs. No timetable has publicly been set for Heaney's return to the rotation, but in an extremely positive note, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the injury is not expected to lead to a possible Tommy John surgery at this point.
We originally projected Heaney to post a 17.9 percent strikeout rate and 3.72 ERA over 139 1/3 innings this season.
