Nationals place Ben Revere (oblique) on disabled list

Washington Nationals outfielder Ben Revere has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.

What It Means:

Revere tweaked his oblique in the fourth inning of Monday's contest with the Atlanta Braves. He was omitted from Wednesday's lineup and the Nationals placed him on the 15-day DL later in the day. Michael Taylor will earn the center field start in his place on Wednesday, while Matt den Dekker was called up from Triple-A to take the open roster spot. There is no current timetable for Revere's return.

Revere slashed .306/.342/.377 last season in 152 games with the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays. He also posted a .316 wOBA with 31 stolen bases. We currently project Revere to slash .292/.336/.365 with 30 steals in 2016, pending the severity of his injury. Taylor -- who slashed .453/.491/.849 in 53 at-bats in spring training -- should remain in the lineup with Revere out.
