Brewers' Matt Garza (lat strain) placed on 15-day disabled list
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Matt Garza has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 2, with a right lat strain.
Garza exited his final spring training start with shoulder tightness, and now he'll miss the early part of the season. Taylor Jungmann will start in his place Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants while Tyler Cravy has been called up from Triple-A to take Garza's spot on the active roster.
Garza struggled badly last season, posting a 4.50 xFIP in 148 2/3 innings pitched and seeing his strikeout percentage drop to a career low 15.6. We currently project the struggles to continue in 2016 as we see Garza recording a 4.79 ERA and 17.0 strikeout percentage in 158 innings pitched.
