The Chicago Cubs re-signed outfielder Shane Victorino to a minor league contract.
Victorino was given his release on Tuesday morning, but it was just a formality. The veteran outfielder has been limited to just four games this spring due to a calf strain, so he'll continue rehabbing at extended spring training before reporting to Triple-A Iowa.
The 35-year-old Victorino has batted only .246/.306/.329 with 3 home runs and 9 steals over the last 2 seasons, while being limited to 101 games (337 plate appearances) due to a variety of ailments.
