Athletics' Sean Doolittle (triceps) set for Cactus return
Oakland Athletics reliever Sean Doolittle (triceps) will next pitch in a Cactus League game.
Doolittle made it through an inning of work in a minor league game Wednesday without issue and is ready to take on major league hitters again in a competitive setting. The lefty closer has missed some action this spring with a slight triceps strain, but it looks like he is going to be fine for the beginning of the 2016 regular season.
Doolittle threw just 13 2/3 innings in 2015 due to a shoulder tear. He owns a career 3.08 xFIP in 192 2/3 innings and a 29.9 strikeout percentage. We project Doolittle to post a 3.32 ERA and 25.5 strikeout percentage in 2016 while recording 30 saves.
