Pirates' Anthony Alford (back) active, starting Tuesday

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Anthony Alford (back) is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against left-hander Madison Bumgarner and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What It Means:

The Pirates activated Alford from the 10-day injured list Monday after he missed the minimum amount of days with a lower back strain. Alford is playing left field and hitting eighth on Tuesday. Ben Gamel is shifting to right field in place of Gregory Polanco and hitting sixth. Polanco cleared waivers and remains on the Pirates' active roster.

numberFire’s models project Alford for 7.9 FanDuel points and he has a $2,000 salary on Tuesday’s slate. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Pirates have an implied total of 4.1 runs. Bumgarner is registering a 21.1 strikeout percentage and a 5.2 walk percentage this season, with a 3.97 xERA and a .305 xwOBA.
