The New York Mets are acquiring infielder Javier Baez from the Chicago Cubs
The Mets are also landing right-hander Trevor Williams in the deal. Baez will likely fill in at shortstop while Fernando Tatis Jr. (oblique) is out, but he can contribute all over the infield for the Mets.
Baez is averaging 11.1 FanDuel points per game while slashing .248/.292/.484 with 22 homers, 65 RBI, and 13 steals across 361 plate appearances this season. His career-worst 31.3 strikeout rate ranks at the very bottom of the majors.
