Rafael Soriano decides to retire from MLB
Relief pitcher Rafael Soriano has decided to retire, James Wagner of the Washington Post reports.
Soriano signed a minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays last month, but he never reported due to a visa issue and has apparently just decided to hang it up.
The 36-year-old had a terrific career, posting a 2.89 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 641 strikeouts to 197 walks over 636 1/3 innings. He had 207 saves, made one All-Star team and twice finished in the top-20 in MVP voting.
