Free agent Justin Morneau (elbow surgery) out until midseason
Free agent first baseman Justin Morneau won't be able to swing a bat until June after having surgery in December to repair a tendon in his elbow.
It helps explain why there was zero buzz on Morneau's market over the winter. "I went into the offseason thinking what I had was just tendinitis," Morneau said. "It was a problem that began last year in spring training, and that I dealt with all year." It's possible he could help a team in the second half.
Morneau will turn 35 in May and is coming off another injury-plagued season, although he batted .310/.363/.458 with three home runs and 15 RBI when in the lineup.
