Nationals call reports of Bronson Arroyo's torn labrum premature
The WAshington Nationals are saying reports of Bronson Arroyo's torn labrum are "premature."
The Nationals will determine the injury's severity by comparing Arroyo's most recent MRI with one from his tenure with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arroyo was seen hugging teammates in the clubhouse Thursday morning, which suggests this could be a career-ending injury. Even if Arroyo's labrum isn't as bad as the Nats originally feared, it's going to be a while before he takes the mound again.
He owns a career 4.37 xFIP. Over a full season, he has posted a sub-4.00 xFIP just once in his career (2013). Eating innings and limiting walks is just about all Arroyo offers.
