Didi Gregorius (elbow) back in action Friday for Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Didi Gregorius (elbow) is in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against right-hander Chris Paddack and the San Diego Padres.
The Phillies activated Gregorius from the 10-day injured list for an elbow injury that had sidelined him since May 12. He is returning to shortstop on Friday in place of Nick Maton and batting seventh versus Paddack and the Padres. The Phillies optioned Maton to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding roster move. Ronald Torreyes will likely lose playing time moving forward.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Phillies have an implied total of 4.4 runs on Friday. Paddack is registering a 24.9 strikeout percentage with a 5.7 walk percentage this season. Gregorius is averaging 8.5 FanDuel points as a starter.
