Steve Cishek (biceps) throws 20-pitch bullpen session at Mariners' camp
Seattle Mariners reliever Steve Cishek (biceps) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday morning in Mariners' camp.
Cishek used his entire arsenal and "seemed pleased" with the workout, per Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times. The right-hander took the weekend off because of soreness in his biceps, but he is back on pace with the other pitchers in Mariners camp. Cishek is expected to open the 2016 season as Seattle's closer.
Cishek posted career worsts almost across the board this past season, including a 4.33 xFIP, 19.8 strikeout percentage (league average is 20.4), that was a huge drop-off from 30.6 percent in 2014, and 11.1 walk percentage, well above league average of 7.7 percent.
