Austin Slater on San Francisco's bench Wednesday afternoon
San Francisco Giants infielder/outfielder Austin Slater is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's game against right-hander Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels.
Slater went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Tuesday and he is 4-for-29 (.138) overall this month. He will likely see a diminished role moving forward with Alex Dickerson (back) and Darin Ruf (hamstring) both back from the injured list. Mike Tauchman will replace Slater in left field on Wednesday and hit ninth. Mike Yastrzemski will replace Slater as the leadoff man.
Yastrzemski has a $3,000 salary and our models project him for 14.8 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Giants have an implied total of 4.0 runs. Ohtani owns the best strikeout percentage (32.9) this season among Wednesday's listed starters.
