Royals put Adalberto Mondesi (oblique) on injured list
The Kansas City Royals put infielder Adalberto Mondesi on the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain.
Mondesi already spent two previous stints on the IL this season due to a right oblique strain and a left hamstring strain. The Royals haven't provided an estimated timeline for Mondesi's return. Nicky Lopez will cover shortstop on Tuesday and bat seventh versus right-hander Gerrit Cole and the New York Yankees. Whit Merrifield will be on second base and Jorge Soler will enter the lineup in right field and hit fifth. The Royals recalled Ryan O'Hearn in a corresponding roster move.
numberFire’s models project Soler for 8.9 FanDuel points and he has a $2,600 salary on Tuesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Royals are the only team in the majors on Tuesday with an implied total below 3.0 runs. Cole is registering a 34.7 strikeout percentage and 3.6 walk percentage this season.
