The Philadelphia Phillies named Matt Vierling their starter in centerfield for Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants.
Vierling will make his first MLB start Sunday, while Odubel Herrera takes a well-earned rest. Vierling will bat seventh.
The rookie was batting .354 with a 1.042 OPS in the minors this season before his promotion to the active roster, and notched 6 home runs in 115 plate plate appearances at that level in 2021.
